One of the prettiest and friendliest villages in the Tyrol. Traditional chalets are clustered around a typically Austrian church. Sunny and compact with a limited skiing area. An excellent choice for beginners, intermediates and families.
In Favour of AlpbachA picturesque and welcoming village offering typical Austrian Gemütlichkeit. Home of the Alpbach Visitors Ski Club. Good nursery slopes (one with artificial snow) close to the village area offer a variety of terrain for novices. Reliable snow on mainly north facing slopes. The main skiing area of the Wiedersbergerhorn 2 km. from the village is accessed by bus (free with ski pass). An efficient 6-person gondola ensures little queuing. . A new 8-person gondola and Ski lifts from Inneralpach, down the road, offer doorstep skiing from some hotels. Tyrolean après ski, centres on some lively teatime bars. A delightful place to learn to ski with few lift queues in a typically Tyrolean resort
Disadvantages Low altitude dictates that you ski this resort before the end of March. A rather limited skiing area somewhat inconveniently located in relation to the village.
Non Skiing activities: Swimming pool, sauna. Ice-rink for skating and curling but some way from the centre. Sleigh rides and walking. Bowling in Kramsach (12km away). Plenty of shops, informal eating-places and nightlife.
