In a spectacular setting in the broad and lush Stubai valley and just over half an hour from Innsbruck. Large ski area, ideal for the intermediate skier. Still relatively unknown by British Skiers. Stubai glacier guarantees skiing all the year round.

In favour of Neustift

Neustift is a picturesque, friendly village with considerable attractions. The traditional Tyrolean resort is centred around a magnificent, ornate church. From the top of the glacier there are excellent views of the Dolomite Mountains. For the non-skier the historic city of Innsbruck is a mere 45 minutes away by public bus.

The skiing on the Stubaier glacier is within 20 - 30 min of Neustift and accessible by a regular bus-service up and down the valley. Skiers with a hire-car will find it useful to get to the glacier and surrounding villages. Snowboarders would find Neustift quite limiting, as there is no fun park, although there is a good choice of runs down the Stubai valley and a 100 m long half pipe. In the village of Neustift is the Elfer gondola, which provides family skiing on the nursery slopes and is usually open from December until after Easter. More skiing in the Stubai valley can be found on the Stubai Glacier or in the resorts of Krößbach, Fulpmes and Mieders, which are combined in the Stubaier Superskipass that are ideal for the first time skier or families. Children under 10 ski free. The resort offers some of the most affordable skiing in Austria with an extremely high standard of accommodation throughout the valley.

Disadvantages

Non-skiing activities

Skating, swimming, squash, tennis and sledging. The nightlife is considered quiet but there is an excellent range of restaurants to choose from. 5 toboggan runs, 1 floodlit.
