Little sister to Lech, but even higher. Purpose-built for skiing but in Austrian style and very exclusive. Arguably the best hotels in the Alps. The Arlberg ski pass links the skiing of Lech and St. Anton. In favour of ZürsZürs thrives on its reputation for excellent snow until late April. It is a peaceful village, which will be much enjoyed by those who seek a quality resort, which is not invaded by hordes of package tourists. Après ski is focused on bars and restaurants in hotels. Zürs is an excellent choice for family skiing with plenty of wide open runs, particularly on the home slopes, an excellent resort kindergarten for children of 3 years +. Beginners and intermediates will soon feel confident and can learn on good snow at high altitude. Experts will enjoy the marked off-piste “ski-routes” and the connection with the exciting skiing of St. Anton as well as some excellent powder skiing at Stüben (both accessible by short bus ride). The area offers wonderfully exciting skiing, even though there are no steep bump runs. Hands-free ski-pass system operates in the Arlberg area. Helicopter skiing can be booked, weather permitting, to access the Schneetäli and Mehlsack mountains.
Disadvantages Few shops. There is no public swimming pool. Hotels will usually only accept Saturday to Saturday reservations.
Non-skiing activities Walks along cleared paths Lech – Zug – Alpele. Hiking track at the top of the Rüpfikopf cable-car, snow shoe walking, horse-sleigh rides between Zug and Lech, helicopter rides. Sauna, solarium, squash, indoor 18 hole golf simulator and mini-gym available to the public at a charge at the Enzian.
