Silver Star Mountain Resort is a very popular family resort. Positioned mid-mountain, this attractive 1890's style-mining village is pedestrianised and all properties are ski-in/ski-out.

In favour of Silver Star:

The centre of town is car free with brightly painted Victorian style buildings. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the resort facilities are modern and convenient with lift tickets, ski hire and ski school, and child care all close to each other.

The skiing is full of flattering gladed slopes perfect for beginners and intermediates. Vance Creek, south facing and overlooking the village, is where most of the intermediate and beginner runs are as well as the snowboard park, 2 half pipes and boarder cross.    Putnam Creek, on the north face and reached by a long high-speed quad chair, is predominantly for the advanced- intermediate and expert skier. This area also has hike in areas and ungroomed blacks. Silver Star works well as a 2-centre holiday with Big White or Sun Peaks.

Disadvantages:

The long, flat roads connecting Putnam Creek to Vance Creek make it hard for snowboarders to get there. No sophisticated nightlife, the low-key informal entertainment will suit families but not those in search of clubs and late night entertainment.

Non-Skiing Activities:

Aquatic centre with indoor heated pool and hot tub. Outdoors there is snowmobiling, plus a children's snowmobile park with mini snowmobiles for children aged 6-12, snowshoeing, skating, tubing, dinner sleigh rides, dog sledding, nature tours, and live theatre.

Accommodation

Silver Star has a limited choice of accommodation, two recommendations are the  Silver Lodge Inn, charming slope side inn and the Putnam Station Inn, small hotel with 32 rooms, situated in the heart of the village, it offers comfort and charm with great character decorated with train memorabilia from the completion of the transcontinental railway in the 19th century. Both properties can be booked on a room only or self-catering basis.
