Whistler is consistently voted North America’s No.1 ski resort, and it’s a firm favourite with discerning skiers and boarders because it has everything they want and more. Not just one but two world-class ski mountains, acres of diverse and varied terrain, trails to satisfy all standards, and the biggest vertical drop and the longest trail in North America. It’s also a short transfer from Vancouver along the hauntingly beautiful “Sea to Sky” Highway. Based around a pedestrian-only village with world-class shopping and a massive choice of après-ski entertainment, Whistler is the ultimate skiing experience, with a reputation further enhanced by the recent award of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. This is a great choice for experienced or first-time skiers, and has enough attractions to keep even the most discerning winter aficionado absorbed – hence Whistler has long been our biggest ‘repeat visitor’ resort.
The skiing is vast and varied, divided between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, with a state-of the- art lift system to take you to the summit where a vertical descent of more than one mile awaits! You’ll discover long groomed trails, secluded glades, “back country” tracks, glaciers, snow bowls and heli-skiing. Whistler has an excellent long-season snow record – a record 469 cm last season made it one of Whistler’s finest for 25 years, Whistler Mountain regularly stays open until the month of June. Time-out from the mountain is equally well catered for with snowmobiling, snowshoeing, zip trekking, dog sledding, indoor climbing, swimming and serious retail therapy. Clustered at the base of the mountains, Whistler Village consists of 4 attractive pedestrian-only areas with more than 200 shops. A huge choice of evening entertainment includes bars, bistros, clubs, and restaurants serving food from every corner of the world - indeed the après-ski, like the skiing, is as challenging as you care to make it.
