High altitude alpine town offering good value accommodation. Great skiing for all standards, on and off-piste. Long season and an impressive snow record.
In favour of DavosThe ski area combined with Klosters is probably the best and most varied in Switzerland. The Pischa area recently became one of Switzerlands largest freeride regions however beginners and intermediates also have plenty of choice. Cross-country skiers can enjoy 75 km of tracks at good altitude with interesting routes along sunny valleys. Non-skiers are well catered for. The nightlife is mainly centered on Davos Platz Being only 2 hours by car from the airport means Davos is a perfect destination for long weekends.
Disadvantages Davostown may suffer from traffic congestion. Since this town was built as a spa town in the 1920’s, the buildings are designed in ‘sanatorium style’ rather than ‘chalet style’, in cube-style buildings with large windows and balconies making them as light and airy as possible!
Non-Skiing Activities Eau la la Wellness Oasis with indoor pool and spa centre. Artificial and natural ice rinks. Hang gliding and paragliding, snowshoe trekking, sleigh rides, 4 toboggan runs (one night-time),3 airboarding runs, Nordic walking and ice hockey matches. Winter sports Museum and Kirchner Art Gallery. Vibrant après ski, plenty of gastronomic restaurants, bars, cafés, and a casino.
