Reputed to be the most sophisticated and expensive resorts in France offering some of the consistently best skiing conditions. Easy wide-open slopes. Long season in the massive Trois Vallées area. Best for luxury hotels and families.

In favour of Courchevel 1850

Of all the ski resorts Courchevel 1850 is the most exclusive and is one of the favourite resorts of the Parisians and the wealthy Russians. They just love its chic boutiques and its hedonistic portfolio of four star hotels and gourmet restaurants. It also has a wide appeal to British skiers, many of whom will stay nowhere else. The resort of Courchevel is spread over four levels from le Praz at 1300, through 1550 and 1650 up to the largest resort of 1850. All our accommodation is in either 1850 or 1650.  Sitting just below 1850 with its own ski area, 1650 is smaller and has a welcoming atmosphere. Courchevel has direct links to Meribel and the other resorts of the Trois Vallees and the ski area has long ski season due to the high altitude.  Simply vast ski area with plenty of opportunities for deep terrain skiing, tree line skiing and many flattering, beautifully groomed slopes. Courchevel has a choice of independent ski schools offering small classes. Frequent free resort shuttle buses which circulate until midnight are free of charge.

Disadvantages

You can virtually ski in and out to most hotels. However, access to the clubs and restaurants in the centre can be difficult at night as many hotels have their own shuttle buses, which tend to stop running just when you need them. The resort bus circulates until midnight and is free of charge. The resort is not car-free.

Non-skiing activities

Time off the slopes can be spent on the ice driving circuit, snowshoeing in the trees, or tobogganing down to Courchevel 1550. The Forum complex has an Olympic ice rink, shopping centre, brasserie and children’s village. At night: ski shows, concerts, and a wide selection of bars, clubs and restaurants.
