At the heart of the Three Valleys Meribel offers some of the best skiing in the world. A purpose-built resort built in Alpine style with an abundance of pretty chalets and beautiful hotels.
The valley of Meribel in France is composed of four villages linked by roads and ski lifts:, Les Allues, Méribel Village, Méribel (with its 5 districts: Méribel centre, Altitude 1600, Belvédère, Rond Point and Altiport.), Méribel Mottaret
In favour of MéribelPopular with the English, and very fashionable. Skiing in the 3 Vallées is arguably unbeatable, a paradise and Meribel is the most convenient base for exploring the area. Skiing for all standards, but particularly suited to intermediates, connected by the 3 Vallées ski pass with Courchevel, Les Menuires, La Tania and Val Thorens. Most skiing is above the treeline, but still some good protected skiing among the trees if weather is bad. The shuttle bus service links all satellites villages. It has extensive artificial snow cover (42%) and can offer some of the best skiing in the 3 Vallées. The shuttle buses are regular and run until midnight.
Disadvantages Although most of our hotels have ski in ski out access, and every district has its own centre with shops, bars and restaurants, the walk into the main centre from some of the higher districts can take a while. Traffic can be a problem in the centre of town at peak times
Non-skiing activities Skating at the Olympic Ice Rink, snow shoeing, paragliding, bowling alley, Wellness centre with squash, gym and sauna, and sports centre with indoor pool. Indoor climbing wall, skidoo, dog sledging, museum and a casino (at Brides les Bains 12 km) and 25 km of walking paths. At night: 80 restaurants, numerous bars, clubs, and 2 cinemas.
