St. Luc – Val d’ Anniviers

An idyllic unspoilt village located in the beautiful Val d’Anniviers.  Excellent slopes for all levels with skiing up to 3025m.  A single ski pass covers the whole valley to include the resorts of Grimentz, Zinal and Vercorin offering 220km of ski slopes.

In favour of St Luc

St Luc was a  traditional farming village which has evolved into a ski resort without losing any of its charm. Even today it only has four hotels. It is centred around the church with an attractive square and pretty narrow streets radiating from it. Intrepid English visitors first started coming here for hiking in the 1880’s, but have since abandoned it. They are only now rediscovering it.  The local ski area, the largest in the valley, is well connected and offers 75km of skiing and links to neighbouring village of Chandolin at 2000m. It is surprisingly uncrowded, at times giving the impression you are in a private ski resort. The lift system appears to have been cleverly designed to be as unobtrusive as possible so you feel that you are truly in the mountains and at one with nature.  The resort also has an impressive vertical range with some exhilarating long runs, some of which are tree lined. The mountain restaurants are few but are small and cosy, with a good standard of food. A variety of off-piste runs are available for those prepared to take a guide. The skiing areas of Grimentz, Zinal and Vercorin are just a short bus ride away. The Val d’Anniviers is located in a parallel valley to Zermatt and benefits from a similar level of snow cover.

Tranquil resort with limited night life. Some drag lifts.
