Hotel Alex

Centrally located, set back from the main street and just 2 minutes walk to the Gornergrat station, Hotel Alex offers a warm and friendly welcome and is one of our favourites. The hotel has been described as having an “extravagant mountain style”. Each of the 83 rooms has been designed in its own eclectic style, with surprises at every turn, some clad with heavily incised original panelling from old mountain chalets, others with vibrant ceiling and wall murals, inspired by the ancients. All rooms have Jacuzzi bath. The annex (connected with the hotel) has slightly unattractive corridors but the rooms are bright and quiet. Delightful lounge-bar area with 3 fireplaces and different themed corners including ‘The Highlander’, a Scottish corner with leather floors, serving a variety of Whiskies.

Two restaurants offering a high standard of cuisine: the Alex Grill serves a gourmet dinner and Grillades from the wood fire and in the restaurant 'le Jardin' lunches and private dinners are served. The Alpen Saga serves afternoon teas and pre-dinner cocktails and a large selection of local wine specialties by the glass.

Wellness facilities include a large swimming pool with jacuzzi, different saunas, steam bath, tepidarium, magic shower, various body massages, an indoor tennis court, a squash court, and a gym.
